The panel formed by over 100 experts evaluates products in various categories that stand out for their originality and functional/typological innovation, production processes, materials and formal synthesis, also with a focus on theoretical, historical and critical research, and innovation of processes and practices applied to design. The selected products, together with those that will be chosen for the ADI Design Index 2017, become eligible for the next Compasso d'Oro ADI, the awards that for over 60 years have been assigned to the best designers and the most outstanding Italian design companies. A prestigious honor for ALPI, which with nearly a century of experience confirms its role as a leader and technological reference point for the wood products sector. The firm’s success is based on a remarkable ability to interpret and forecast market trends through solutions that are increasingly sophisticated in aesthetic and technological terms, giving concrete form to any project idea of its various clienteles of reference: large luxury manufacturers, leading producers of automobiles and yachts, as well as prestigious furniture makers and clients in the fields of product design, interior architecture and contract. With RADIANT, ALPI has again revolutionized the interpretation of wood, offering unprecedented design flexibility. Precisely due to its innovative content, RADIANT has also been assigned the “Best of the Best” Interzum Award 2015, the biennial prize organized in collaboration with Red Dot to honor innovation and excellence of appearance and functional quality of design materials. Besides being featured in the ADI publication and website, the projects selected for the ADI DESIGN INDEX 2016 will be shown in an exhibition held in Milan (8-11 October) and Rome (28 October – 1 November). For the exhibition, ALPI creates a sculptural installation formed by light methacrylate panels that emerge from the wooden base; the panels are clad in RADIANT, where the resin lines – a particular feature of this material – allow light to penetrate, making the surfaces translucent and creating fascinating luminous effects. RADIANT is the best illustration of the customization potential of ALPI, the first company in the world to have industrialized the production process of decorative composite wood surfaces. Customization as a strategic driver: the true competitive advantage of the brand that stands out on the global market as a reliable and trusted supplier capable of offering – besides the vast and constantly growing catalogue – wood products made to measure for the world of design, offering the guarantees of an industrial product and the flexibility of fine tailoring, thanks to in-depth knowledge of the material and outstanding manufacturing know-how. The genesis of every new ALPI wood augments a true xilotheque, a fascinating library of woods in constant evolution, offering inspiration for new interpretations on the part of designers. RADIANT can be used on any surface and produced in different thicknesses depending on the application. It is available in the ALPIlignum veneer version, an extremely versatile material that offers infinite design potential: surfaces for furnishings; surfaces and facings for interior architecture; hôtellerie, multi-apartment, residential, shops, retail facilities, offices, public spaces; wooden floors, parquet, window frames, acoustic panels; surfaces and facings on yachts and cruise ships; dashboards and interior finishes for the automotive industry; objects. The material has FSC® certification, the most authoritative on an international level, guaranteeing sustainability in the supply chain.
